How to Apply

Application Dates

The Foundation has two open grant rounds each year for the Arts & Culture Program and Jewish Community Grants Program. 

 

Grants in the Health & Welfare Early Childhood Development 

Program and Environment Program are currently by invitation only.

ELIGIBLE ORGANISATIONS

 

The Besen Family Foundation is a Private Ancillary Fund and can only approve grants to organisations endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as a Deductible Gift Recipient Type 1 (DGR1) status and which are Income Tax Exempt.

The recipient organisation must be based in Victoria or must be proposing to use the grant funds for the benefit of Victorians.


Applications will not be accepted if made within twelve months of a previous grant being approved or before an existing grant is completed. Applications will not be accepted from organisations that have not acquitted a previous grant from the Foundation.

 

Please make sure you have read The Grants Program section of the website to ensure that your application comes within the Besen Family Foundation granting priorities and that you understand the specific exclusions for each grant area.

SIZE OF GRANTS

 

Grants of up to $10,000 can be sought through the open grants rounds of the Arts & Culture and Jewish Interest Programs.

 

Grants within the Health & Welfare Early Childhood Development Program are currently by invitation only.

Applicants who are short-listed in the EOI will be advised by email in the week of 4 September and invited to submit a full application.

Projects must commence after this time.

Applicants who are shortlisted in the EOI process will be advised by email in the week of 18 March 2024 and will be invited to submit a full application.

Open: Monday 19 February 2024

Granting Guidelines
Submitting an Application

 

The Besen Family Foundation accepts online applications for the Arts & Culture and Jewish Community Grants Programs. 

 

Applicants should be aware that, for the purposes of assessment, their proposal may be sent to external experts for review. This is done on a confidential basis.


Before you apply please check that your organisation is eligible for funding and that your project fits within the granting guidelines.

If you are unsure as to the suitability or eligibility of your project, we strongly encourage you to contact the Foundation office at info@besenfoundation.org.au.

Arts & Culture Program Applications

Independent artists may be eligible to apply to the Foundation through the Australian Cultural Fund. More information can be found here.

A two-stage application process has been introduced for the Besen Family Foundation's Arts & Culture Program.

Stage 1 is a submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted via our grants portal.

Stage 2 is an invited application for shortlisted EOI submissions.

GRANT ACQUITTAL

Grantees are required to complete an Acquittal Report within three months of the completion of their project. Grants must be acquitted prior to submitting an application for subsequent funding.
